Every immigrant artist carries a story that existed before recognition, before audience, before belonging. VANSHON invites immigrant artists across disciplines to share how their early years in the United States shaped their work, identity, and creative survival.
Participants may choose to contribute:
A written narrative (guided interview format)
A recorded video conversation (short or long form)
Archival material (images, sketches, early works, journals)
You don't need any production experience. VANSHON provides guidance and editorial support.
Immigrant artists of all disciplines
Emerging or established artists
Artists whose early U.S. years were undocumented, misunderstood, or invisible
Why This Matters
Art does not migrate easily. Unlike science or technical professions, artistic value depends on cultural context, audience recognition, and shared history—elements that do not cross borders with the artist.
Your Art Has a History exists to preserve that missing context and to make visible what immigration often erases.
Confidentiality & Consent
All shared stories, materials, recordings, and personal information will be kept strictly confidential. No content will be published, released, shared, or used publicly without the explicit permission and written consent of the artist.
Participants may choose:
What parts of their story are public or private
Whether their name is used or kept anonymous
To withdraw their participation at any stage before publication
VANSHON’s role is to protect the integrity, safety, and ownership of each artist’s story.
